Should I service my Volkswagon at VW dealership?
I just bought my 2004 Volkswagon Golf GLS at a private dealer and he told me just come back to him and he’ll take care of everything.
I’ve thought about doing that but, I’ve also thought about taking it certain service places around my area… and recently I’ve been told by one VW owner that the best thing I can do is go to a VW dealer and let them service it.
Just looking for other peoples opinions on how they would do it. I’m looking to save money, but I want my car running well and that would most likely override saving money for me.
VW is one of the worst brands for aftermarket service. VW keeps a lot of its engine diagnostic codes proprietary for example. Things like the timing belt can not be serviced outside the dealer because special tools are required. Other brands don’t require a special tool just to replace a T-Belt. The cooling system also is best serviced only by the dealer. Etc, etc, etc.
